BROWARD SHIPYARD is an American shipyard. In 1948, Frank Denison, a Michigan boat technician, purchased the Dooley's part of the Fort Lauderdale shipyard, while he was touring the area on his honeymoon. Frank and Gertrude Denison, renamed the shipyard Broward Marine and founded a ship repair and service company. In 1953, the shipyard launched its first motor yacht, Stormy III, designed by famous naval architect John Wells. Five years later, he built the 25-meter luxury yacht Jonathan III. During the Korean War years, the yard successfully built minesweeping vessels under contract with NATO. During the latter part of the 20th century, the main focus of Broward Marine was the construction of bespoke luxury yachts, following the fall in demand for dredgers. The shipyard has changed hands and names over the years. In 2009, Bruce and Chris Moore took possession of it, incorporating Broward Shipyard. The new company offers the construction of bespoke luxury yachts and superyachts in aluminum and steel, from 18 to 50 meters. In addition, it also offers a full range of refitting, repair and maintenance services for yachts. To date, the shipyard has launched more than 300 yachts.
